World-Handshake for the youth
Within the overall project of World-Handshake there also exists a Programme for the youth called “Children learn more about children - from and for children”.
To start the programme, a class of school children in Austria was invited to prepare letters (“Children learn more about children”) describing their wishes and ideas of, and how to attain, an ideal world and to draw a picture of their personal interpretation of “World-Handshake”.
These letters are sent to other schools around the world as a special “Handshake” greeting. Children who receive a letter are then invited to complete their own letter and return it to the sender or the World-Handshake team for the smooth exchange of correspondence.
By this simple gesture of exchanging letters, children can reach out and symbolically shake hands with other children, learn more about each other and get a better understanding of the differences in this world. Education is vital to ensure a better quality of life for all children and a better world for all people. By sending and receiving these letters children educate themselves. They send their heart to the world.
